Travel Trailer is great!
We have a 2005 Coachman Cascade with a super slide, 26ft. what that means in english is that it is a one bedroom apartment on wheels! The entire left side of the coach that is the livingroom and diningroom slides out an additional
2.4ft making the main room 10.4ft wide and very enjoyable. The only thing that could be considered a shortfall to some with this trailer, is that it is a west coast build. That means that it has single pane windows and less insulation so when we took it to the midwest, we had to use the electric mattress pad and furnace more. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. That is until I can afford a class A Diesel with 3 slides... I'm not crazy!

When I sold Sunnybrooks, the single pane was standard. The winter window upgrade was about a $2000 option. Unless you're a winter camper, you're better off with the electric mattress pad. I'm sure there's some aftermarket window treatments available.

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
I am new to this site and I live Quebec Canada. Falls come fast and winter does to. my wife and I camp till late oct. even with the heater and an electric blankets but would not change a thing. and I transport RV's, class A's, travel trailers and fith wheels from Elkart to dealers in my area. Its a past time for me to do this and its what paid for my 31 ft trailer. I would not trade it for any of the others for any thing in the would. I love a truck and enjoy towing the trailer. I love going to different camp grounds all over Canada and the U.S.A. A little cool weather is great to cuddle up close to a fire in the evenings with my wife and chatting with great new friends. Keep camping and ejoy the great out doors

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Isn't travel trailering fantasical!! We like taking the Wildwood Motel on all of our trips that we can, we like be able to fix our own meals if we want, sleeping in our owm bed, not having to find a motel and pay a goodly amount just to sleep overnite. I know we have a cost factor in our tow vehicle and trailer, but it sure is great. We started out camping in the back of our covered pickup, one of our best memories are layiing in the back of the truck and listening to the KC Roysls play baseball. We then moved up to a tent, sure was fun but as we got older the ground got harder. Now weh have a 30' front kitchen travel trailer pulled by a 2006 2500 Chey Duramax with a Hensley hitch (best insurance and investment we made).
We are retired and don't know how we had time to work, we are so busy. We take as many trips that we can both long and short. The high fuel price was bad last year, we went anyway. We went last spring to Galveston, glad we did before it blew away, what a shame. Another long trip was in June to Colorado to visit some friends that live near the Royal Gorge. We took our trailers over Monarch Pass (elev. 11312 ft), it has 9 miles of 6% grade with curves that you can check your taillights our when going around and then another 9 miles of 6% grade down. The unit did a real fine job both up and down , This was the first time my wife didn't ask to drive. We stayed a several different places, had some other friends that have a cabin in the mountains meet up with us. We also enjoyed several short trips. Again isn't it just great taking a travel trailer camping.
The Campster site is such a great site and it a lot of fun.
Join some of Groups, there are some good ones out there such as --Camp, Fish, Eat and Have Fun Group--The Travel Trailer Group--Hensley Owner Group--The Campfire Cooking Group--Retired Campsters Group-and many special interest groups and state and regional groups. Join some and get involved with them. Disclaiimer: I am belong to and started some of these groups and I do not work for Campster
Keep on Camping, Wildwood

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Let it be known we do work for Campster, Hensley, and anyone else we want to promote here. Thats the nice thing about it. We don't make any money but it makes us feel good to talk up Campster, and boast about our big orange safety feature behind our TV and I'll probably talk up my new brake control I bought from Hensley. It'll get to Maricopa AZ before I do,( we're headed there now) then I have to hook it up and I'll let you all know how it works.
Now off here for more camping stuff to to. Have fun all.

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Trailer camping is great, would be even better if the weather would level out here in Kansas and we could get out. We will be getting the Wildwood Motel ready shortly so it will be ready to leave on short notice if need be. twoofus I seen you have have been over to the tent forum stirring up trouble, you must of made them mad siince nobody replied. I'm like you the ground is hard on my butt and the AC works better in the trailer than the tent. We have served apprenticeship in the tent camping for a lot of years, we are into a little more comfort now.
Twoofus, did you get your new Hensley brake controller hooked up? Let us know how it works.
Sure is quiet everywhere, not much posting going on, either everyone is camping or traveling or pouting because they haven't been able to get out.
Lets talk Camping--Danny

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Hi Danny, I was wondering if I teed off a tenter or two, it wasn't my intention. Sooner or later the ground will get to hard for them to and they'll trade in the canvas or plastic for a hard side with wheels. God man that ground would kill me now. LOL
Ya I've seen it's pretty quite here lately and I hate to bore people with my goings on here, we're pretty much setting still for the rest of March and then we'll head back to Lake Pleasant in Maricopa county for a couple weeks and more moving around AZ before we head home to Mi in May sometime. We spend a lot of time in the pool here at the cottonwood Cove RV park and visiting our Son in the city of maricopa. This pool is wonderful!
They say it's cooling down a bit this Thursday and Friday, so I've been waiting for the cool down to crawl under my dash and put my brake control in. I figured there was no hurry since we're not moving for another 2 or 3 weeks. It's been in the 90"s here and no I'm not complaining at all, lol It's just better to get under the dash when it's 75 degrees. When I get on the road and see how the brake control works, you can bet I'll be here telling how it works.
I'm sure people look at us and swear we aren't "camping" It's more like living comfortably. I mean Dierctv on the roof, easy chairs under the awning, BBQ hanging on the side cooking almost every night.
You know how this retirement is. 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, no Holidays, no days off. It's a hard life, but we try to make the most of it.
Hope your able to get out of Kansas soon and enjoy some of this camping thing. It's a great life.

We will be out Easter weekend for sure. My husband's nephew and his wife just bought a new camper and they are anxious to try it out. They are going with us Easter weekend to a State park close to us.

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Hi Gang;
New to the site, but not new to camping-grew up camping all over Northern AZ. Some of the best memories ever. We now have "Audrey" a 22' foot Wave trailer with just enough room for the two of us (and a cat & dog), and newly acquired "Large Marge" a 2008 Chevy Duramax. Can't wait to get the Dynamic Duo out on the road again. Last tow vehicle was Jeep Grand Cherokee, which did the job....but with a struggle. Marge makes all the difference in the world and pulls Audrey like no one's business....and 14 mpg too boot! (yes a good thing-and that is uphill at 65 mph) Living in AZ is great as we can camp almost year 'round. We especially like summer trips to northern AZ where it is much cooler and the summer monsoons bring much needed rain. Campster seems to be a great resource and look forward to learning even more. We're members of Good Sam and Rainbow RV. See y'all on the road....or in camp. Cheers! :cool

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Hi IYQ here for the 1st time. I pull a 30 Hornet Travel Trailer with a 2008 F-350 truck, I know Over Kill but I bought the truck before I got this trailer. I live full time in my travel trailer and enjoy every minute of it. I Full timed in the 70's when I retired from the Army. I've been a Square Dance Caller most of my life but retired from that during the 90's when I contracted a cancer under my tongue. You'd never know it happened now. Right now I'm in Livingston, Tx getting some medical attention and hope to be back on the road soon. I'm a member Of the Escapee's RV Club, Loners on Wheels and Good Sam.
Alexmo, I used to live in Flagstaff and attended the University of Northern Arizona. I know what you mean by top notch summer camping there. I used to fish Oak Creek every Friday.
I hope ot meet some of you folks on the road. My IYQ is plastgered all over my trailer so drop in and chat if you see me. I have a lot of camping stories to tell.

Hey Thetwoofus I have one of those big orange things following me around too. I was wondering what it was. I didn't feel anything back there but I could see something when I was on those crooked mountain roads every time I went around a corner.

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Hey back to ya ITQ, Shame on me for not checking back here. I've been having so much fun on this winter trip of ours, The only problem is it's coming to an end next week. We have to start heading home and the nice thing about the trip home to Mi from AZ is I don't have to worry about wind and or rain. Hensley is taking us home. I can even stop now with the new Gold control from Hensley. Now if Hensley would just pay for my gas and buy our meals. LOL All kidding aside, We really enjoy our Hensley equipment and it makes us feel safe as we pound the highways home.

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Hello all, I'm new to this web site and groups. Rather than lurking, I thought I'd say howdy. We have a 2000 Cameo by Carri-lite. We bought it new nearly 10 years ago and absolutely love it. It's light to tow, yet has sturdy oak cabinets etc. Before that we had a couple pop-ups. The first was a Palamino with the grasshopper legs. What a pain. Then we had a Jayco .. crackup, fiberglass skin, AC, overhead cabinets .. really great for the family. We got so tired or packing up wet after rains then having to dry things out afterwards. After 7 years we traded up to our Cameo. We have a Hensley Arrow hitch and a 2008 Siverado 4WD tow vehicle. We added the Chevy tow mirrors (swaps out with other mirrors). The mirrors were a great investment. I'm a timid driver and now feel comfortable towing ... great hitch and can see well behind me. ![]()

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
New to posting.
We have a 30' Sunnybrook TT. We got it Jan 08 and fell in love with camping again. My husband and I have 5 children, 16, 15, 11,11 and 8 year old. With the older 4 being daughters, the Bunkhouse is great. We have enjoyed finding great campground in Colorado. Last year we hooked up with another family and have been camping together ever since. They have a son, and he brings friends with them. Our kids are entertained with each other, which leaves the grown up to relax and enjoy the surroundings. My husband switched all our lights to LED bulbs, this will ease our minds when we are dry camping and battery power. We have made most of our 09 camping reservations. We're looking forward to great camping.

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Hi, I am new today. We pull a 27' Puma with a 1500 4 X 4 Suburban. We started out with tents, went through 3 p/ups, then a hybrid (which I loved and wish we still had) and now our Puma. It is just my husband and I now, and the little dog. We do however take our 6 yr old granddaughter more than half the time.

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Way back in the 70"s we took our 2 boys camping in our provincial parks.
We drove our Chrysler stationwagon, pulling the little daysailer on it's trailer ,and the tent and poles packed in the boat.
Those were the days of sleeping on the ground on top of a skinny slab of foam
Today the boys are married with kids of their own, and we pull our 23 ft surveyor behind a Grand Cherokee.
We love the freedom retirement brings.
I still have not been converted into a Hensley hitch user allthough we are using the mirrors.
Some day I might get a Hensley Hitch .
My present set up is working okay, because the trailer is rather small and sway does not appear to be a problem.
We've driven app. 24000 miles with this set up.
The only time we had some sway is . when I packed our luggage box and a heavy lobster trap on the back of the trailer bumper hitch .coming home from NewFoundland.
We really enjoy doing our trailer thing, travelling throughout this beautiful country.

Hi there! We tow a 32ft Jayco with a 2500 Dodge 4x4. We have a Reese hitch and anti sway system. Don't want to ask a stupid question but could someone please explain the Hensley Hitch?

Re: Travel Trailer is great!
Can't explain all the tech data about a Hensley, but we have had ours for over two years now. We had severe swaying with our 30 ft Wildwood, tried several hitches, balanced the trailer load, played all the anti-sway games but ended up with the same results--sway with crosswinds and sway and lack of control with passing trucks. We installed the Hensley and was sold on it after just 60 miles into a 1600 mile trip. We have used it here in windy Kansas and have towed with it thru the Colorado mountains. We have great control of the truck and trailer. We still feel passing trucks sometimes and you still feel the wind, but it is more like the truck and trailer move as one, instead of each going their own way. You can make corrective moves without feeling or being out of control(been there done that). It is pricey, but offer peace of mind, safety, easier traveling, with safety being the most important thing to us. I feel it is easier to hook up than the other hitches, some have some problems, but don't all things. If you haven't already you might join the Hensley group here at Campster to read some more info about the hitch.
Everyone has an opinion about what the best way to tow is and mine is with a Hensley.
Let's all talk travel trailering
